CO2 laser is a gas laser, which produces a wavelength of 10.6μm, belonging to the mid-infrared band. CO2 lasers have relatively large power and relatively high electro-optical conversion efficiency; they are the most powerful laser at present.

CO2 laser, with CO2 gas as the working material, fills CO2 and other ancillary gases into the discharge tube. While heightening the electrode voltage, glow discharge will generate in the discharge tube, then we can release the gas laser. After the released energy is amplified, we can carry out laser processing. Laser has large power, which is controlled by software, and continuously adjustable.

The optical resonator is formed by the front and rear mirrors and two parallel RF-electrodes. Excitation of the laser gas takes place in the RF field between the water-cooled electrodes. The heat generated in the gas is dissipated by the water-cooled electrodes (diffusion-cooled). A beam shaping module is integrated into the laser head and produces a high quality round symmetrical beam.
