Waterproof and breathable membrane is a kind of polymer material with both waterproofness and breathability. Its core function is to allow water vapor to penetrate and block liquid water from penetrating. Its working principle is based on the synergistic effect of microporous structure and hydrophilic groups: Microporous filtration: micropores with a diameter of about 0.0004 micron are distributed on the surface of the membrane material, which is only one tenth of the diameter of water droplets. Liquid water cannot penetrate, but water vapor molecules can diffuse freely. Hydrophilic groups: Some products can enhance the adsorption and transmission ability of water vapor by adding hydrophilic groups (such as hydroxyl groups), and at the same time prevent micropore blockage. Pressure balance: dynamically adjust the air pressure difference inside and outside the building envelope to avoid problems such as condensation and leakage caused by temperature difference. Second, the production process and classification manufacturing technique Tape casting compounding: Plastic particles are compounded by their own viscosity after hot melting, which has poor air permeability and is only suitable for low-end scenes. Glue spraying/scraping compound: using hot melt adhesive to adhere non-woven fabric and membrane material has low air permeability and poor temperature resistance (only 60℃), which is easy to delaminate and age. Hot-pressing compound: pure hot-melt technology has no glue, temperature resistance above 110℃, and air permeability ≥ 1500 g/m 24 h, which conforms to the EU CE standard. Classification method According to the structure: single layer (foundation waterproof), double layer (enhanced tear resistance) and composite layer (adding breathable film and non-woven fabric). By gram weight: Generally, performance grades are distinguished by gram weight (g/m), such as 120g, 160g, etc., instead of thickness.
