Bronze Chariot and Horses
Product Description
Two teams of large painted bronze chariots and horses were unearthed 20 meters west of the mound of Emperor Qin Shihuang's Mausoleum in Lintong County, Shaanxi Province in 1980. After recovery, the sizes of the models are about one half of real man and horses. Manufacturing time was during the tomb's construction period (221 BC to 210 BC).
The one that was numbered as No.1 is the vertical chariot, a single shaft and double wheels, with a horizontal rectangular car, the door is in back of the car. There is a circular copper umbrella upon the car, standing royal official under the umbrella, driving the chariot of four horses with his both hands. The No.2 vehicle is the safety car, but also the two-wheeled single shaft. Its carriage is divided in two-bedroom cabin for the front and rear. There is window between the two cabins, car door is in the back. There is oval-shaped cover. It was painted with color patterns on the body. Chariots and horses were decorated with large number of gold and silver decoration. These two bronze chariots and horses are pre-molded, and then carried out precision process. Technology level is very high. The copper wire diameter used for horses’ tassels and copper spokes are only half a millimeter. They were kept in the museum of the terracotta Army.
