molecular sieve 5A is an alkali alumina silicate; it is the calcium form of the Type A crystal structure. Type 5A has an effective pore opening of 5 angstroms (0.5 nm). It will adsorb molecules with a kinetic diameter of less than 5 Angstrom and exclude those larger.
It is especially suitable for PSA adsorbed applications where it may be used for the separation of normal- and iso- paraffins (C4 to C6 species), in PSA hydrogen purification and in oxygen concentrators.
Advantages of molecular sieve 5A:
1)With uniform pore size and high surface area, thermal stability, high absorption capacity, high strength characteristics.
2) By molecules of different size and shape, select the adsorption, meaning that just absorb less than the pore size of 5A molecular sieve.(never adsorb any molecular larger than 5A)
3) For small polar molecules and unsaturated molecules, with selective absorption properties, the greater the polarity, the higher the unsaturation, the selective adsorption is stronger.
4)Has strong water absorption. Even at the higher temperature,Greater airspeed and the lower content of water, still have the relatively high water absorption capacity

Use
It is mainly used to separate isomerism alkane, adsorption and separation in the changing pressure, co-adsorption of water and carbon dioxide, to dry and refine the Chemical, petroleum gas, ammonia decomposition gas and other industrial gases and liquids.
Regeneration:
1. Removal of water: Hot gas at 200-350°C and pressure 0.3-0.5Kg/cm2 flows through the Zeolite bed for 3-4 h. let temperature decreases down to 110-180°C, cooling.
2. Removal of organics: Regeneration is achieved by means of steam treatment to remove organics, and then remove water with method 1.
