*The excitation control unit delivers the excitation current. Because it allows only a small part of the excitation current from the exciter to flow in the bypass circuit, the regulator needs to be rated for relatively only.
*The excitation control unit is designed with a compounding circuit, which functions with feedforward disturbance variable. When the load changes, the immediate change in load current causes a simultaneous change in excitation current. The unit therefore displays good dynamic behaviour.
*Intrinsic safety in the event of regulating system failure. Since the generator voltage is set to a maximum of 115% UN Via the excitation control unit, the voltage rise in the event of regulating system failure is limited to 115% UN.
*The generator can also operate without the regulating system. In this case, the generator voltage is manually controlled by means of an additional potentiometer, connected in parallel with the excitation winding.
*Operation at less than rated speed is possible for unlimited periods. The regulator is not in action at speed below 95%rated speed. A voltage approximately proportional to the speed is output at the generator terminals.
*Parallel operation always involves the quadrature-droop device. This ensures fault-free parallel operation of generators of different ratings (in parallel with a main supply system, if necessary).
*The generator, excitation control unit and regulator together comprise a fully functional and tested unit.
