Santicizer 141 Plasticizer
Santicizer 141 Plasticizer, 2-Ethylhexyldiphenyl Phosphate, is an excellent flame retardant plasticizer for the majority of industrial polymers, including PVC and its copolymers, Cellulose Nitrate, Cellulose Acetatebutyrate, Ethylcellulose, Polymethylmethacrylate and Polystyrene.
Because of its effectiveness and excellent low-temperature properties, Santicizer® 141 is commonly used and appreciated for the preparation of vinyl sheets, fabric coating, plastisols and organosols, adhesives, vinyl packing materials, and conveyor belts.
Because of its excellent solvating power, Santicizer® 141 improves the utilization properties of many formulations. Moreover, it confers a number of interesting properties to the finished products, such as flame retardance, low smoke density, flexibility at low temperatures, good resistance to abrasion and to oils and fats, excellent light stability and weather resistance, and exceptional high-frequency weldability.
Santicizer® 141 is an excellent fireproofing material for transparent films; in pigmented films that must comply with very severe reaction to fire test requirements. The use of Santicizer® 141 is often recommended together with small quantities of Antimony Oxide, about 3 phr, and 10 - 20 phr of Aluminum Hydroxide.
By mixing 10 to 15 % of Santicizer® 141 with a Phthalate Plasticizer such as DOP, the light stability of the films and their resistance to weather and bacteria are considerably improved.
In comparison with Tricresyl Phosphate and Cresyl Diphenyl Phosphate, Santicizer® 141 allows the preparation of plastisols having a lower initial viscosity, better pseudo-plasticity, and better storage stability. It is commonly used in the sector of PMMA-based plastisols and nitrocellulose coatings and inks. Santicizer® 141 is recommended for its compatibility and film-forming characteristics.
