Characteristic 
Root conical, fusiform or irregular block, 1.5~5cm long, 1.2~2cm in diameter. surface grayish yellow or brownish black, with waxy luster, irregular fine lines and a few transverse long lenticels; the upper part has several tuberculosis-like elevated branch root break, the apical residual rootstock. Firm texture, often separated from the wood after breaking; grayish white or yellowish brown in cross-section, with brown dots (resinous channels) on the skin, bitter and slightly sweet taste.

Chemical composition 
Contains saponins, mainly ginsenosides Rb1, Rg1, Rg2 and small amounts of ginsenosides Ra, Rb2, Rb and Re. In addition, it also contains flavonoid glycosides, starch, protein, oil, etc. 

Taste 
Warm in nature, sweet and slightly bitter in taste.

Main treatment 
For all kinds of internal and external bleeding, chest and abdominal stabbing pain, painful fall and swelling

Panax ginseng total saponin (its main components are: ginsenoside Rb1, ginsenoside Rg1,2, Panax ginseng saponin R1)
