Lemon essential oil is one of the most easily recognized oils because of its refreshing, energizing and uplifting scent. The health benefits of lemon oil can be attributed to its stimulating, calming, astringent, detoxifying, antiseptic, disinfectant and anti-fungal properties.
It is a good general skin tonic. It is the great remedy for older more mature skin, it helps to eliminate dermatitis and acne and soothes a dry irritated skin. The general tonic action seems to stem from the action it has on supporting collagen formation in the skin, which is required for a healthy, young-looking skin.

How to Use It

When diluted with a carrier oil (such as jojoba, sweet almond, or avocado), a drop or two of lemon essential oil can be applied to the skin or added to baths.

Pure lemon essential oil shouldn't be applied directly to skin or used in larger amounts than recommended (the oil is absorbed through the skin and using too much can be toxic).

Lemon essential oil also can be inhaled after sprinkling a drop of the oil onto a cloth or tissue (or by using an aromatherapy diffuser or vaporizer).
