PETG is a non crystalline copolyester. In its production process, because a certain amount of ethylene glycol is replaced by 1,4-cyclohexane dimethanol (CHDM), crystallization can be prevented, thus improving manufacturing and transparency. Its products are highly transparent and have excellent impact resistance. It is especially suitable for forming thick-walled transparent products. Its processing and moulding properties are excellent. It can design arbitrary shapes according to the designer's intention. It may adopt traditional moulding methods such as extrusion, injection, blow moulding and suction moulding. It can be widely used in sheet metal, sheet metal and high performance recycling. The market of shrinkage film, bottle and profiles has excellent secondary processing performance and can be modified by conventional machining.

PET resin is a linear homopolyester formed by condensation of dibasic alcohol (ethylene glycol, EG) and dibasic acid (terephthalic acid, TPA). Copolyesters are polyesters modified by alcohol or acid, including PETG, PCTG and PCTA, and degradable copolyesters.

The main characteristics of PETG are:

1. superior thermoforming properties

PETG plate is easy to produce products with complex molding and large drawing ratio. Moreover, unlike PC sheets and impact-resistant modified sheets, the sheets need not be pre-dried before hot forming. Compared with PC board or acrylic, its molding cycle is short, the temperature is low, and the finished product rate is higher.

2. tenacity

The extruded sheet of PETG sheet is usually 15 to 20 times tougher than general acrylic and 5 to 10 times tougher than impact modified acrylic. PETG sheet has sufficient endurance during processing, transportation and use, and helps prevent breakage.

3. weatherability

PETG sheet provides excellent weatherability. It can maintain the tenacity of products and prevent yellowing. It contains ultraviolet absorbent, which can be co-extruded into a protective layer to protect the sheet from harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation.

4. easy processing

PETG plate can be sawn, die-cut, drilling, punching, shearing, riveting, milling and cold bending without breaking. Slight scratches on the surface can be eliminated by hot air guns. Solvent bonding is also a routine operation. It is easier to process than general acrylic force, impact modified acrylic force or PC board, and can be processed by flocking, electroplating and static electricity.

5. excellent chemical resistance

PETG plates can tolerate a wide range of chemicals and commonly used detergents.

6. environmental protection

PETG sheet materials are all environmentally-friendly materials, which meet the requirements of food contact management.

7. economy

It is cheaper than PC board and is more durable thanPMMA.
