Aluminum expansion joint cover system for installation in joints between parallel wall or ceiling sections, the system consisting of aluminum extrusions, aluminum or stainless steel sheet or plate, elastomeric cushions, and spring steel centering bars with elastomeric spheres. The joint cover system is mechanically fastened to the wall or ceiling and is surface mounted.

Expansion Joint Installation:
1. Mark the locations for the anchor holes on the base members. Drill the anchor holes into the base members at the marked locations.
2. Place the base members into their installed positions against the wall. Using the base members as templates, mark the anchor hole locations on the wall.
3. Remove the base members from their installed position against the wall, and drill the anchor holes into the wall at the marked locations.
4. Place the base members back into their installed positions against the wall. Attach the joint system base members to the wall using the fasteners provided by the factory.
5. Insert the elastomeric cushions into the channels in the base members.
6. Insert the centering bar spheres into the base member channels.
7. Slide the centering bars into their installed position.
8. Place the cover plate into its installed position on the base members.
9. Affix the cover plate to the centering bars using the bolts provided.
Expansion Joint Maintaince:
Establish an inspection schedule for the expansion joint covers. Clean damp contaminants away by wiping with a clean cloth. Clean aluminum cover plates using clean cloths, warm water and a gentle detergent (detergents for use with aluminum pots and pans are acceptable). To remove tough stains, a solvent or emulsion cleaner may be needed. These cleaners must be spot tested prior to use.
