Product Description

ULTRASOUND PREGNANCY SCANNING FOR DOGS, CATS, GOATS, SHEEP AND ALL SMALL ANIMALS  EW-B10V
with convex probe

The unit identifies accurately whether an animal is pregnant. This is a portable and cost effective ultrasonic instrument, significantly increasing breeding efficiency.

The comparision of mechanical sector transducer and electronic transducers
1.Mechanical sector transducer for the prenancy of swine, dog
An element is mounted on a motor head whichis swept from one point to another acquiring scan lines from multiple positionsover time.
The disadvantages of mechanicalprobe:
steered mechanically,focused mechanically
noise is louder than electronic probe
fixed focus for transmit and receive
motion artifact
air pockets in gel inside the transducerhead create artifacts
parts wear out
single crystal,if element fails, nothing onimage
general scan depth in only 190mm
one main unit only can be configurated onekind of probe

2.Electronic transducers for wider application

Electronic transducers are made from alarge number of small, identical crystal elements which are acousticallyinsulated from each other. each element is connected to its own circuitry,considered electronic scanning.

Advantage of electronic probe:
one main unit can configurated withdifferent probes for more application.
electronic focusing, vertical dropout whenelement malfunctions
Convex probe for wide near field
Linear probe for large in size, no movingparts&beams are parallel
no noise when working
By exchange different probe, it can usedfor examing more kinds of animal, like cat, dog, swine, bovine, equine, sheep etc
scanning depth is 220mm

Ultrasound Frequency Range
With regard to image quality related tofrequency, there is a trade-off between resolution and penetration.
A higher frequency produces a higherresolution image, but the ultrasound wave will not penetrate as deeply into thepatient. A lower frequency means that you will get a decrease in image resolution,but the ultrasound beam will be able to penetrate to a greater distance intothe patient. It is important to strike a balance between these two factors toachieve an acceptable image of the area that you want to evaluate.
Most small animal ultrasound scans areperformed at a depth of 2 - 15 centimetres. A frequency range of 4 - 10 MHzshould allow you to scan within these depths.
A modern electronic probe can scan atmultiple frequencies while an older mechanical probe often only operates at asingle, fixed frequency.

Types of veterinaryultrasound probes

Micro-convex veterinary ultrasound probe 5.0M/R20

This is the main probe that is used forsmall animal abdominal scanning. A smaller footprint allows better surfacecontact to be achieved which will result in better image quality. Compared tousing a large convex probe, it is easier to scan through rib spaces andunderneath the costal arch with this probe and the frequency range is always ofa higher frequency.

Convex veterinary ultrasound probe 3.5M/R60

A convex probe has a large point of contactwith the skin surface, with the ultrasound beam spreading to a wider field ofview within the patient, giving a sector-shaped image.Maternity units have the highest turnover ofsystemsThey also typically have a lowerfrequency range (3.0-5.0 MHz), therefore the resolution you can achieve will beless than with other types of probe. Although they can be useful for scanningthe liver in extremely large dogs!

Linear veterinary ultrasound probe 7.5M/L40

Linear probes are primarily used forsuperficial abdominal structures, especially in cats, such as the smallintestine and the kidney. It is also excellent for imaging the eyes! Linearprobes normally give a higher resolution image than convex probes for severalreasons:
They often scan at higher frequencies
The ultrasound beams do not diverge as theytravel away from the probe. They travel in a straight line, parallel to theadjacent beams.
One drawback is that they often have quitelarge footprints, so for small animals and exotics a hockey stick linear probeis preferable

Transrectal probe 6.5M/L64

Rectal examination can be used for biganimals such as bovine, equine, llama, goat, sheep, swine etc. In rectalpalpation, the ovaries, uterus and cervix are felt through the rectal wall

During the transrectal songgraphicexamination , the probe is the best manipulated from outside the rectum afteradvancing it into rectum and then rotated over the uterus. Manipulating theprobewith one hand inside the rectum isoften difficult and can stress the animas considerably.In order to be able tomanipulate the ultrasound probe from outside, the probe and its connectingcable mus be stiffened, and are tied to a6250px super long guid-rod made from a non-twisting materal.
