Galvanization Purpose To Truck scale / weighbridge SCS-MIZ:

Galvanization is the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting. The most common method is hot-dip galvanization, in which parts are submerged in a bath of molten zinc.

 

It forms a coating of corrosion-resistant zinc which prevents corrosive substances from reaching the more delicate part of the metal

the zinc serves as a sacrificial anode so that even if the coating is scratched, the exposed steel of truck scale will still be protected by the remaining zinc on truck scale / weighbridge.

Superiority of galvanized treatment:

1):Long lasting:In general situations,galvanized coat can  prevent the corrosion. And this superiority is obvious especially  in costal areas.

2):Good reliability: Galvanized coat  makes it more durable.

3):Strong toughness of galvanized coat :The galvanized coat is a special metallurgical structure,which make the scale body  more inflexible.

Process of HDG on truck scale / weighbridge structures:

The Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) process consists of three basic step: Surface Preparation ; Galvanizing ; Inspection 

1:Surface Preparation on weighbridge structure

Surface preparation is the most important step in the application of any coating. In most instances where a coating fails before the end of its expected service life, it is because of incorrect or inadequate surface preparation. The galvanizing process on weighbridge structure has its own built-in meams of quality control because zinc will not react with an unclean steel surface. Any

Failures or inadequacies in surface preparation will be immediately apparent when the steel is withdrawn from the zinc bath because the unclean areas will remain uncoated, and immediate corrective action can be taken

Polishing on weighbridge structure:after welding, thoroughly polishing on the weighbridge structure to clean up the welding slag

Degreasing Cleaning On weighbridge structure: a hot alkali solution, mild acidic bath, or biological cleaning bath removes organic contaminants such as dirt, paint making, grease, and oil from the metal surface of weighbridge structure.

Pickling to clean up mill scale and rust: A dilute solution of heated sulfuric acid or ambient hydrochloric and removes mill scale and iron oxides (rust) from the steel surface of weighbridge structure .

Fluxing: The final surface preparation step in the galvanizing process , a zinc ammonium chloride solution, serve too purpose. It removes any remaining oxides and deposits a protective layer on steel of weighbridge structure to prevent any further oxides from forming on the surface prior to immersion in the m0lten zinc

2. Galvanizing on truck scale / weighbridge structure

During the true galvanizing step of the process, the truck scale structure is completely immersed in a bath of molten zinc. The bath chemistry is specified by ASTM B6, and requires at leasted 98.5% pure zinc maintained at 815 F (435-455 C). 

While immersed in the kettle, the zinc reacts with the iron in the steel to form a series of metallurgical reaction will continue after the materials are withdrawn from the bath, as long as it remain near bath temperature. Galvanized truck scale structures are cooled either by immersion in a passivation solution or water or by being left in open air.

3. Inspection on galvanized weighbridge structure

According to ASTM A123/A123M standards, a variety of tests are performed to determine thickness, uniformity, adherence, and appearance of zinc coating on weighbridge structures.
