Are the shirts washable?

Yes. You remove battery pack when you wash el shirt, and plug it back in when you’re ready to wear again.  Shirts must be hand washed.

Will the shirt get too hot?

They produce almost no heat and are paper thin (.010 thick.) They produce a soft neon like glow, with no hot spots such as filament bulbs or LED's.

How long will it last?

Electroluminescent lamps draw very little power and therefore produce little heat. Since they don't have filaments or mechanical parts, they do not burn out and are virtually indestructible. Light is emitted from the entire surface, so visibility is far greater in smoke or haze than point-sources light. It has a very long service life: over 30,000 hours.
