UNS S31700/S31703 dual certified

Type 317/317L Stainless Steel is a more corrosive resistant grade of stainless than Type 316/316L due to its higher chromium, nickel and molybdenum contents. The addition of these give 317/317L higher corrosion resistance, tensile strength, and creep rupture strength at elevated temperatures. Type 317/317L is used in the chemical, petrochemical, and paper industries. 

It is the policy of CMC Letco Ind to stock and use only dual rated type 317/317L Stainless Steels. This provides our  customers with the advantage of better corrosion resistance found in Type 317L, along with the greater mechanical properties in Type 317. 

317 stainless steel,also known as UNS S31700 and Grade 317,is primarily comprised of 18% to 20% chromium and 11% to 15% nickel along with trace amounts of carbon,phosphorus,sulfur,silicon and balanced with iron.

UNS S31700/S31703 commonly known as stainless steel 317/317L dual certified is the low carbon content version of stainless steel 317 for structures.

Features and advantages of both stainless steel 317 and 317/317L dual certified include increased strength,corrosion resistance (including crevice and pitting),higher tensile strength and a higher stress-to-rupture ratio. Both grades tesist pitting in acetic and phosphoric acids. With respect to cold working of stainless steel 317 and 317/317L dual certified ,stamping ,shearing,drawing and handing can all be successfully performed. In addition, annealing can be performed on both grades bwtwwn 1850 F AND 2050 F, followed by rapid cooling. Furthermaore, all common hot working mehtods are possible with stainless steel 317 and 317/317L dual certified,between 2100 F and 2300 F.
