PVB is manufactured from the condensation reaction of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and n-butyraldehyde. PVB is compatible with phthalate ester, phosphate ester, fatty ester, glycol derivatives and many other plasticizers. In addition; PVB resins can be blended with nitrocellulose and ketone resin to increase its hardness. PVB resins find their application in films & sheets, paints & coatings and adhesives in order to enhance their physical as well as chemical characteristics, such as excellent optical clarity, strong binding power and outstanding adhesive and film forming properties. It is also is used in other applications such as safety glass interlayers, paints, lacquers & varnishes, printing inks, and temporary binders.
