Activated Carbon - Shell, Wood and Coal Based Activated Carbon
Activated carbon is a type of carbon, which is activated for super absorbency of odor, particulates and other pollutants. The activated carbon is manufactured from shells, coals, wood and other materials, which are gone through high temperature carbonization, activation and refined processes.

Classification

The activated carbon can be classified into various types according to the material and shape.

According to the raw material

Shell activated carbon. Shell activated carbon is manufactured from wood chips and shells including coconut shells, walnut shells and almond shells. The coconut shell activated carbon is the most popular type.

Wood activated carbon. Manufactured from high quality timber, wood activated carbon is commonly powder and granular shapes. It is mainly used for absorb impurities in the liquid.

Coal activated carbon. Coal activated carbon is made from bituminous coal, peat and anthracite. The shapes of coal activated carbon are granular and columnar. Coal activated carbon has high mechanical strength and low-cost. It is widely used for poisonous gas purification.

Granular activated carbon. The granular activated carbon can be irregular granular shape and bead shape. The granular activated carbon can be used in the honeycomb activated carbon filter and air carbon filters.

Columnar activated carbon. Columnar activated carbon can be used in the air carbon filter and activated carbon filter to remove odors and purify air.
