Most fiber burnt happen due to the heating accumulated in the connector and acrylate layer, most of the heating comes from spurious reflections and cladding defect at the fiber end faces so the fiber finishing technique is very important. It not only reduces the scattering losses but also affects the quality and adhesion of AR coatings.
