The MS5004 is a bi-directional booster designed to extend the range of 2.4GHz wireless radio devices which require high linearity amplification. The unit is effective as used with ZigBee, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth application. MS5004 provides 2W transmit power and low-noise receive gain to increase the range and compensate the cable loss in installation.

System Application:
The booster is an Auto-sensing bi-directional design including power amplifier, receiving low noise amplifier, TX/RX switch, power detector and power supply. The booster will be in receiving mode while in sleeping or listening mode. The power amplifier is turn off to cut down power consumption. After the ZigBee module output turn on and the power detector senses the rising power energy, then booster switch to TX mode. The Power Amplifier is turned on.
In order to optimizing output power to get best linearity amplification, we can set suitable value to on-board fixed attenuator and TX Gain. The better TX gain of MS5004 is around 15db, so we can set input power of amplify around 16~18dbm. Based on these parameters, we set fix attenuator around 2db. The output power is variable from ZigBee module, its range is from -1 to 18 dBm. Please note, the minimal of RF power input should larger than 2 dBm to turn on power detector and switch to TX mode.
