November of 2006, the Geely Group , Shanghai Maple Automotive and Manganese Bronze Holdings signed agreement to establish the Joint Venture in Shanghai to manufacture the London Taxi.
In February of 2007, the establishment of the Joint Venture was approved by the Shanghai municipal government;
The registered capital for SLTI is US$50 million. The factory plant covers an area of 420,000 square meters,with an annual production capacity of 40,000 vehicles.
The TX4 served the Beijing Olympics and Beijing Paralympics in 2008. It provided the best service to the passengers and was highly appraised by all circles.
The Mayor of London drove a TX4 made by SLTI when the Beijing Olympics finished, to celebrate the success in biding for the 2012 London Olympics.
After 2010 Expo, Shanghai, TX4 provided once again the service in an international grand event held in China--Guangzhou Asian Games, which proves TX4, a classic car with over 80 years' history, boasts an unique advantage in high end reception activities, professional taxi service and free access communication.
