First, Product Description 

LD-163 is kind of polymer type super dispersant which contains multi-alloy group. It is applied in all kinds of system and has great wetting and dispersion to all kinds of organic pigments especially carbon black. It is excellent for viscosity reduction, steady and hue strength improving. Also it can lower operation viscosity of grinding system and increase pigment filler amount. At the meantime, It has strong ability of prevent flocculation from returning thick. What’s more, it can improve storage stability of color paste, this product is similar to BYK-163.

Second, Physical and Chemical Parameters 

Composition: High polymer type polyurethane Block Copolymers which contains pro pigment group

Appearance: Light yellow liquid

Activity content: 50%

Solvent: Mixed solvent of propylene glycol monomethyl ether acetate and butyl acetate

Third, Features

• LD-163 is suitable for middle and high polarity system. It matches well with common coating resin and applied well in coating system.
• LD-163 can improve base materials’ wetting and dispersion ability to pigment/filler. Meanwhile, lower system viscosity, enhance fluidity and shorten grind and dispersion time.
• LD-163 possesses excellent ability of prevent seeding. Compared with small molecular type wetting dispersant, it can improve colorant’s storage stability.

Fourth, Application System and Consumption 

It is suitable for middle and high polarity system, the adding amount depends on the using system. 2-10% for inorganic pigment, 20-40% for organic pigment and 20-70% for carbon black.( as per pigment’s surface area)

Fifth, Usage 

• Adding the product into the base material and mixing well, then add pigment/filler for dispersion. It is suitable for any dispersion method such as sand milling, roll mill and ball milling.
• Consumption is 0.5-2.0% of formulation amount. If applied in colorant, the consumption is 3%.
• High pigment carbon black, acetylene black and high grade organic coatings need pre-immersion treatment. We can firstly make LD-163 dissolved treatment liquor, then add pigment and mix at high speed for 30-40 minutes. After 12 hours’ placement, grinding it to required fineness, the effect will be great.
