Action:

Fennel seed is used as a flavoring agent in many herbal medicines, and to help disperse flatulence. The seeds, and roots, also help to open obstructions of the liver, spleen & gall bladder, and to ease painful swellings, in addition to helping with yellow jaundice, the gout and occasional cramps.

Pharmacology:

Modern pharmacological studies have shown that fennel seed’s acetone extract has estrogenic activity and could play a role in mammaplasty, fennel have anti-ulcer, analgesic, etc; fennel oil in various degrees of antimicrobial activity, can stimulate the gastrointestinal nerves and blood vessels, promote secretion of saliva and gastric fluid, improve appetite and help digestion.
