Much like bicycle design, The Toledo Metal Furniture Company's furniture was designed to stand up to r ed conditions. The Toledo Metal Furniture, Co. (1897-present) is a division of Banner Metal, Inc. in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. It was founded by brothers Joe and Clement Uhl, who designed a great number of the school and office furniture pieces now associated with a vintage, industrial chic look. Most of these vintage drafting stools were manufactured during the Machine Age in the first half of the 20th century. With fully adjustable seat and back height and a pivoting base, the heavy steel and wood materials were designed to withstand weight and frequent use

 

These stools, designed in the early 1900s, were created with schools, industrial shops and draftspeople in mind. Their charming silhouettes and mix of bent wood and metal create a look that can go vintage industrial, mid-century modern, traditional or contemporary. Inspired by the old craftsman’s chairs some people had the ingenuity to build perfect reproductions of the 1900’s chairs destined for people who practiced things like shoe making and repairing, tailors and so on. This particular chair has a very nice bent steel base with a spring loaded clamp and a steel pole to provide the necessary height adjustment. The back of the chair has also an adjusting system that works individually from the rest of the chair

FCL shipping
