Silicon nitride is featured by its high strength; especially the hot-pressing silicon is one of the hardest substances in the world. It is so highly resist to heatness that it could keep strength and tough ness unchanged till to 1200��.It will not melt after being heated and will decompose only after being heated over 1900 ��.Silicon nitride also shows an amazing resistance to chemical erosion. For example it could stand against almost all the inorganic acids as well as caustic soda solution with concentration under 30%.In addition it is also a good electric insulation material.

There are two ways to produce silicon nitride ceramics: reaction sintering and heat sintering. The first is to produce ceramics in common ways by silicon powder or mixture of silicon powder and silicon nitrite. Press sintering is to sinter silicon nitrite that is mixed with a little of other additives like MgO��Al2O3��MgF2��AlF3 or Fe2O3 under pressure of 19.6MPa and 1600~1700centigrade
Products produced by sintering are accurate in size and stable in volume. Usually heat sintering could produce products with higher density and good performance than the reaction sintering.
FD3N Silicon nitrite
Silicon nitrite ceramics shows good thermo-stability, high oxidation �Cresistance and accurate size.
Silicon nitrite has strong chemical bonds and could form protective membrane when exposed to air therefore its chemical stability is quite good. For example, when heated under 1200centigrade silicon nitrite would not be oxidized, between 1200~1600centigrade it could form protective membrane to avoid further oxidation. In addition it could not be disso ed by metals like aluminum, lead, si er and nickel. But it could be corroded by magnesium, nichrome and stainless steel. Silicon nitrite could be used for engineering elements of high temperature, valuable fireproof materials in metallurgy, erosion-resistant parts in chemicals and cutters in machinery.
