Gypsum wood fiber board is a product currently going through the initial stage of its life-cycle — market penetration. Originally, the gypsum wood fiber board concept was developed in Germany. The panels, made of wood chips and gypsum-based binder were presented at a 1982 conference. In 1984, the right to manufacture these boards in Finland was acquired by SasmoX, which in 1985 became the world’s first company to manufacture gypsum wood fiber boards. Pretty soon, gypsum wood fiber board became a popular product in Europe.
