I am the commercial manager of YOURS Trading HK LTd., a biomass sourcing & trading company based in Hong Kong.

We source the biomass from Indonesia, where through our local subsidiary we built a lean PKS (Palm Kernel Shells) supply chain.

PKS is an excellent biomass with good calorific value ( NCV is typically 15.5 GJ/mt ) and extremely low ash content and sulfur content, which can be mixed with coal or other biomass in co-firing projects to reduce CO2 emissions and other pollutants.

Our sourcing is direct, and our supply capacity is stable as we have entered revolving agreements with many suppliers (palm oil mills) and we arrange collection, transportation, inventory build-up, logistics and quality control of the biomass. We basically build up inventory to be able to reliably (and timely) service our energy buyers: we also look at medium and long-term agreements with fixed price. Our operations are on Sumatera Island, where we currently have two stockpiles (Belawan and Palembang) with capacity of 270,000mt/year and we plan to add more in other provinces as demand grows. From our stockpile in Belawan we can also readily and cost-effectively ship out PKS in containers to China, so we can arrange a trial shipment of smaller volumes at buyer's convenience. Of course we can also arrange bulk shipment for larger volumes: in close cooperation with our experienced dry bulk shipping partner, Nepa Shipping Hong Kong, we can offer CIF/CFR shipments in the region.
