Electric fireplaces are those that are fueled by electricity.  These fireplaces still offer the same warmth and magic that traditional fireplaces offer, in the absence of fire.  It is basically an appliance that depicts the ambiance of a fireplace by simulating the presence of fire.  Electric fireplaces can provide the illusion of fire as traditional fireplaces, and can also provide heat generated by electricity.  The different fireplace accessories can still be used in this type of fireplace.  Although there is no actual fire, the aura that it exudes is still that of a real fireplace.

The design of the light is in such a way that it looks exactly like real fire.  Embers and logs also take part in the illusion of real burning flame.  The nice thing about electric fireplaces is that you can adjust the intensity of the light according to your preference.  The light can be dimmed or it can be turned brighter.

The heat that might be required from the fireplace is generated by metal coils that are electrically heated.  The heat generated from these heating coils is transferred into the room by using a fan that ushers in the heat or the warm air.   The amount of heat can be adjusted in the same manner as the intensity of the light. These types of furnaces are proven to be cost effective and economical.  A lot of modern electric fireplaces can dissipate heat at a much faster rate, thus only a short period is required for heating the elements up.  This signifies savings in operation and maintenance.
