Batteries must be properly charged before use to ensure maximum capacity. You should allow 12-14 hours for the initial charge. During the lifetime of the battery, never exceed a 24-hour charge. Battery power should be completely drained before the first recharge, which should last another 12-14 hours to maximize efficiency.
