I. PVC Description

PVC is the most widely used member of the vinyl family. Common applications include chemical processing tanks, valves, fittings & piping systems. PVC Sheets, Rods & Tubes offer excellent  corrosion and weather resistance. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio and is a good electrical  and thermal insulator. PVC is also self-extinguishing per UL flammability tests. PVC may be used to temperatures of 140°F (60°C). Available in sheets, rods, and tubing. For Higher Temperature Performance, consider CPVC.

II. PVC Characteristics:

Advantages:

u  High mechanical strength, high hardness

u  Good electrical insulation

u  Excellent chemical and corrosion resistance

u  Showcase quality surface

u  Easily to fabricate, weld or machine

u  Accurate to dimensional tolerances

u  Color consistent

u  Good printing and welding

u  Flexibility adjustable

 

Disadvantages:

u  Poor thermal stability

u  Poor processing properties

u  Poor impact resistance,

u  Poor aging resistance and cold resistance

u  Pollution control equipment

u  Chemical processing

u  Semiconductor processing equipment

u  Machined and fabricated parts

u  Scrubbers, hoods, ducts and other protective equipment

u  Packaging materials of food, drugs or cosmetics

u  Injection products such as Pipe fittings, valves, office supplies shell and electrical appliance  shell casing
