An amniohook is a medical instrument that is used to perform an amniotomy or artificially rupture the membranes in order to induce or augment labor. The amniohook is a long thin tool with a pricked end resembling a crochet hook. In an amniotomy procedure, the amniohook is inserted through the vagina to rupture the amniotic sac.
