Nansha Stadium is the venue of Wushu and Dance Sport for 2010 Asia Games, so it is full of concept of China Wushu in designing. The shell of Nansh Stadium consist of nine curved surfaces, and stack-up one by another. This dynamic style is also a metaphor of the highest concept of China Wushu-Yin and Yang integrated, heaven and humanity of unity. Meanwhile the stadium also adopt feature of Oceanic culture of Guangdong, taking example from Conch and shaping a skin texture change style.
Main steel structure of Nansha Stadium is annular suspend-dome structure, and main span is 98m. Inner space height is 29m, air conditioning area is 8000 m2, airflow volume is 32000 m3/h. The stadium requires long-range airflow and also has certain requirement on air velocity, because the athlete are easy to catch colds in cold airflow when perspiration. But if use traditional ducting system with ball outlet diffusers, in order to achieve long-range airflow, the air velocity would be very large, and it turned out that the air distribution is not ideal, it is also to solve heavy condensation issue. Besides, hundreds of tons metal duct across suspend-dome, it is not only increase load-bearing to roof but also increase construction cost. Finally the contractor decided to use DurkeeSox air dispersion system as HVAC solution for the stadium.
For the features and requirements of the stadium, DurkeeSox Tech Center came up with a professional solution: Installed DurkeeSox at height of 19 m, main duct diameter from each AHU is 1626 mm and joined 2 branch ducts to forming “T” type; selected diameter 1118 mm and 1321 mm branch ducts according to length and airflow volume. The stadium totally installed 4 AHUs and symmetrical laid more than 200 m DurkeeSox ducts. Opened 4 lines orifices on the ducts along length, and three of the four lines orifices supply air to auditorium with 0.5 m/s end air velocity, the other line orifices supply air to competition areas with 0.3 m/s end air velocity. Meanwhile selected micro-permeation NanosoxTM fabric material to faster air dispersion speed and achieve goal of energy-saving. Besides, beige DurkeeSox ducts not only well match the surrounding but also appear more upscale.
The owner, consultant as well as the contractor are satisfied with performance of DurkeeSox air dispersion system, and the stadium now has began to hold 2010 Asia Games.
