SUS440C overview

SUS440C The steel is martensite stainless steel, high carbon content, high strength, high hardness, used for manufacturing surgical tools. SUS440C Stainless steel imported from Japan is used to manufacture bearing parts that work in corrosive environment and strong oxidation without lubrication. The steel also has good dimensional stability at high temperature, which can be used to manufacture corrosion-resistant high temperature bearings and tools whose temperature does not exceed 250℃.

SUS440C:  This kind of steel has good rust resistance, is currently used in the high-grade batch cutter market of high-quality stainless steel, its strength and sharpness is better than ATS-34, chromium content up to 16-18%, is the second most commonly used stainless steel (next to ATS-34), is also the earliest stainless steel accepted by the cutter, and has been very popular. Especially after the sub-zero treatment process was developed, this treatment enhanced the toughness of the steel.

SUS440C features:

High hardness and better wear resistance, when grinding, its disadvantage is the viscosity is relatively large, and heating up quickly, but it is easier to polish than any carbon steel, with a hand saw cutting material is much easier. SUS440C annealing temperature is very low, hardness is usually up to HRC58-60, corrosion resistance and toughness are very strong, now more widely used in hand knives and high quality factory tools.

SUS440C with:

SUS440C after quenching, high hardness, good corrosion resistance (magnetic) tableware (knife), turbine blade after quenching, higher hardness than SUS440 steel (magnetic) blade, nozzle, valve, ruler, tableware (scissors).

SUS440 Chemical composition:

C: 0.95-1.20, Si: 1.00, Mn: 1.00, P: 0.040, S: 0.030, Cr: 16.0-18.0, Mo: 0.75

SUS440C feature applications:

SUS440C has the highest hardness of all stainless, heat-resistant steels. Used for nozzle and bearing. SUS440C steel has a very good cutting performance. SUS440C Martensite stainless steel has the same hardening property as ordinary alloy steel, so a wide range of mechanical properties can be obtained by selecting grades and heat treatment conditions.

SUS440C mechanical properties:

Hardness: Annealed,≤269HB; Quenching and tempering,≥55HV

Heat treatment specification: 1) Annealing, slow cooling at 800 ~ 900℃; 2) Quenching,1000 ~ 1050℃ oil cold; 3) Temper,200 ~ 300℃ air cooling.

Metallographic structure: The structure is characterized by Martensite type.

Delivery status:

Generally, the goods are delivered in the condition of heat treatment, and the type of heat treatment is indicated in the contract. If it is not indicated, the goods will be delivered without heat treatment.
