[JY168-5 Chip Resetter]

     The price of the original EPSON ink cartridge is expensive, how to decrease and save the cost of printing is our concern. The ink level of EPSON intelligent cartridge is recorded in the chip IC, which accurately records and controls the  ink level. It cannot be reused even though the empty ink cartridge is refilled, and it results in high expense.
     JY168-5 can reset & refill the chip IC on the Epson intelligent ink cartridges without changing the property of the cartridge. Then the empty cartridge can be reused after the ink is refilled. JY168-5 is versatility; it can automatically identify the type of ink cartridge, and then reset the chip on the cartridge into a full mode. It can be compatible with most of the Epson intelligent ink cartridges in the market.

[Instructions for use ( 7 pins )]

       Please note that the reset unit contains a number of notches, which are designed to couple  with the various Epson black and color chipped cartridges. 
Rest Procedure:

1. Align the cartridge to the correct notch on the reset unit so that the chip contacts and the pins on the resetter meet.
2. Keep the two units in firm contact. If the red light is blanking, it shows the two units contact well.
3. If the red light turns to green, it shows the reset operation is successful.
4. Cartridge is now ready for refilling with ink.
5. To reset ink cartridge of Epson Stylus C70/C80/C82/C83,C84,C63,C64, Stylus Photo 950/960/2100 
   and 2200/CX3100/CX3200/CX500/CX5100/CX5200/CX5300/CX5400/CX6400.

      Also as figure 5 shows, a plastic guide plate is included for positioning the cartridges used in the printers. When resetting the cartridge of above styles, the plastic guide plate should first be attached  to the edge of the reset unit, as illustrated, The cartridge should then be brought up to the  JY168-5 resetter so that the side of the cartridge is in contact with the plastic guide plate.

[Instructions for use ( 9 pins )]

1. Don’t need to use adapter when it reset 9 pins chip, chip contact meets the pin directly. Notice: Cartridge sticker and JY168-5 light are upwards, two place “X” don’t need to meet JY168-5 pins. (picture 7)  picture 7  picture 8
2. Keep cartridge and JY168-5 resetter in firm contact. JY168-5 red light is blanking (picture 8).
3. If the red light turns to green, it shows the reset operation is successful.
4. Cartridge is now ready for refilling with ink.

TROUBLESHOOTING

1. After the red LED flash, it stays on and doesn’t turn green
   • The pins on the resister are not in good contact with the chip on the cartridge. The contact may be dirty or oily.
   • If the ink cartridge is not an original Epson brand ink cartridge, the chip may be not compatible with the resister.
   • If the ink cartridge is an original Epson brand ink cartridge, the chip may be burned out or  Epson may have changed the chip design. But it still can work with this kind of ink cartridge to  fulfill the level, only the green light won’t shine, the red LED does.
2. The printing quality is not good.
   • The quality of the ink you are using may be inferior. We recommend using inks that are specifically matched to Epson’s original colors and other characteristics. (Especially if you are printing digital photographs.)
   • Air bubbles entrapped in ink. To avoid this, inject the ink VERY slowly. Also, allow the cartridge to rest for 24 hours with the ink exit nozzles facing down before using.  picture 9                       picture 10

Refill instruction (9 pins):

1. Drill hole on the cartridge which is use up or nearly use up. Attention: Filling ink when 10% Ink left in the cartridge, then use JY168-5 resetter to reset chip. In this way, it can prevent original chip becoming compatible chip (the printer show it is not original cartridge for each printing), avoid original cartridge sensor broken easily. (picture 9)
2. Stuff the rubber on the air hole. ( Picture 10 )
3. Insert the vacuum refill tool into hole of cartridge, take up and down the refill tool, the  Cartridge can be full after doing it several times. ( Picture 11 )
4. Stuff the rubber on the filling hole, take out the rubber in the air hole. ( Picture 12,13 )
5. Use JY168-5 to reset it, Cartridge can be used again.
