Ansen casting tape is made of knitted fiberglass fabric or polyester fabric impregnated with water-activated polyurethane resin.  It is mainly used for the external fixation of fracture or sprain to make the bone heal in orthopedics, plastic surgery and general surgery .

Operation:
1. Use the protective padding or stockinet on the fixed part.
2. Wear surgical gloves.

3. Before opening the package, select the roll of proper size.
4. Immerse the cast in room temperature water(21-24) for 4-6 seconds and squeeze it 2-3 times to complete penetration of water into the body of the roll. The higher the water temperature is the faster the cast hardens.
5. Wrap the cast spirally, overlapping the previous layer by 1/2-2/3 the width of the roll . Keep proper tension and take care to avoid excessive tightness. Just 3-4 layers provide strong non-weight bearing cast and 5-6 layers are typically adequate for weight-bearing cast.

6. After water soak, the cast begins to solidify in 3-5 minutes and can bear weight enough in 20 minutes. Generally the operation will be finished in 3 minutes. Smooth and rub the surface to achieve good contact between layers. It needs to be avoided excessive action within 10 minutes to be made the best stiffness before fully hardened.

7. The cast can be removed by electric cast saw..

Characteristics:

B.Usage

 1.Apply 1~2 layers stockinet over the affected body part 1~2 layers and additional padding can be used.

 2.Wear surgical gloves.

 3.Before opening the package , choose the roll of the proper size.

 4.Immerse the cast in normal temperature (21-24 ℃) water for 4-6 seconds and squeeze 2-3 times .  Then remove from the water and squeeze out excess water . The curing time of cast is directly related  to the temperature of water . In high temperature the curing time is shorter , in low temperature the  curing time is longer . If the water time is over 27 ℃ , the curing time is too short to increase the  difficulty of operation.

 5.Wrap spirally , overlapping the previous layer by one-half or two-thirds the width of the roll . Just 3~4  layers provide a strong non-weight-bearing cast and 5~6 layers are typically adequate for weight-  bearing cast.

 6.If you need increase product , please ensure that products is adhesive between the layers.

 7.To increase adhesion between layers need to plastic after wrapped . The operating time in 3-5  minutes . The adhesion and shaping effect cannot reach the best after the long time operating hours  and soaked . Allow about 10 minutes for sufficient cure . The patients do not allow to move before  completely hardened with 10minutes.

 8.The cast may be windowed , trimmed or removed with traditional cast saw equipment.

Precautions:

1.The operator should wear gloves to avoid the polyurethane touching and adhering the skin. When the operator is stuck by polyurethane resin, please wipe it out with cotton swab with alcohol.

2.Check bag without any breakage. Exposure to moisture or water initiates a chemical reaction that causes the roll to harden. Do not use the roll that feels hard.

3.Open one bag at one time and use the cast immediately. Don’t open multi-bags at the same time, so that to avoid weakening the strength.

4.Ansen cast should be stored in a cool, dry and ventilated atmosphere. The proper temperature is 15-30℃ and the humidity should be less than RH60%.

5.All applications of these casts should be followed according to instructions of doctors or qualified medical professionals.

6.Production date is marked on bag. The shelf life is 2years from the date of production.
