It is an economical and efficient method to treat the waste water by Titanium electrode,so far it has been used and provded by many application areas like sanitary wastewater,industrial waterwater,oil water, backish water,cooling water and so on. 

The basic principle:

The pollutant occurs electrochemical reaction on the electrode diectly or indirectly, that is direct electrolysis or indirect electrolysis.

(1) Direct electrolysis
Direct electrolysis means pollutants to be oxidized or reducted directly on the electrode and be removed from the wastewater. Direct electrolysis can be divided into anodic process and cathodic process. The anodic process is the pollutants oxidized on the anode surface,so that the pollutants be converted into a less toxic substance or easily biodegradable material, or even an organic material, so as to reduct or remove the contaminants. Cathodic processis pollutants restored on the cathode surface and cleared away,  mainly used for the reduction and dehalogenation of halogenated hydrocarbons and heavy metals recovery.

(2) Indirect electrolysis
Indirect electrolysis utilize the oxidation-reduction (redox) substance produced during the electrochemical as the reactant or catalyst, to transform the pollutants into a less toxic substance. Indirect electrolysis is divided into a reversible process and an irreversible process. The reversible process (media electrochemical oxidation) refers to the redox substance can be electrochemical regeneration and recycle in the electrolysis process. Irreversible process utilize the substances produced during the non-reversible electrochemical, such as strong oxidizing chlorate, hypochlorite, H2O2, O3 and the others, also utilize the strong oxidizingintermediates generated in electrochemical reaction and the solvated electron, such as HO • HO2, O2 and the others-free radicals.
