Description of Toughened Glass

Features:

• Safety: After broken, the toughened glasses will be broken into particles as small as bean. Thus, the possibility of its harm to body cannot be produced.
• High Strength: Impact strength and flexural strength of the same thickness of tempered glass is generally 4-5 times as strong as the common glass
• Hardness: 3-4 times of that of the common glass
• Thermal Stability: with good thermal stability, to be able to withstand the temperature of the glass is three as big as the common glass

Applications:

Passenger vehicle windows, shower doors, architectural glass doors and tables, refrigerator trays, diving masks, cookware, etc.

Availability:

• Standard thicknesses: 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 15 and 19 mm.
• Thickness and approximately 3 meters in width with the length of 6.5 meters.
•  Other glass thicknesses and size may be available on request.

Please Note:

Toughened glass must be cut to size or pressed to shape before toughening and cannot be re-worked once toughened. Polishing the edges or drilling holes in the glass is carried out before the toughening process starts. Because of the balanced stresses in the glass, damage to the glass will eventually result in the glass shattering into thumbnail-sized pieces. The glass is most susceptible to breakage due to damage to the edge of the glass where the tensile stress is the greatest, but shattering can also occur in the event of a hard impact in the middle of the glass pane or if the impact is concentrated (for example, striking the glass with a point). Using toughened glass can pose a security risk in some situations because of the tendency of the glass to shatter completely upon hard impact rather than leaving shards in the window frame.
