Product Description

Our crucible is used of zinc die casting . The life of a crucible depends on the conditions of melting & storage, that can vary from melter to melter.For longer life of Crucibles quality conscious melter monitor constantly the temperature of each crucible as well as the molten metal in the crucible.

Some hidden facts :

The melting point of iron is 1536 ° C but the presence of 'dissolved-carbon' (which is a must for a Crucible), reduces its melting point to 1150 °C, but, cast-iron begins to disintegrate (soften) at approx. 850 ° C.

So, for all practical purposes the temperature of the crucible should never go beyond 750 °C (or the temperature of disintegration, which may vary from furnace to furnace & alloy to alloy.
