Embossing Machine

Technology of production

Release paper with pattern and embossing machine is the normal way to form pattern on synthetic leather. Comparatively speaking, pattern from release paper is light, but the pattern from embossing is deep, such as snakeskin pattern, mahjong pattern, crocodile pattern, hami melon pattern, etc.. 

Category of embossing machine

Generally, embossing machine can be divided into plate embossing and roller embossing machine, while, roller embossing is splitted into normal embossing and vacuum embossing machine. The working principle of normal embossing machine gets the pattern by pressure, which will make the thickness thinner; on the contrary, vacuum embossing machine forms pattern by suction, and increases the thickness. Normal embossing machine can work on PU, PVC and semi PU, but vacuum embossing machine is only suitable for PVC now. The products from vacuum embossing machine have better handfeel than normal embossing machine, so we are trying to find some solution to extend its application in PU and semi PU also. 

Main Structure

The main structure for embossing machine is unwinder, accumulator, pre-heating system, embossing (vacuum embossing), cooling and winder.

Technical points

Heating system consists of pre-heating roller and infrared ray lights, fabric side is heated by roller, and surface is heated by lights. Generally, pre-heating roller is sprayed by Teflon on surface, and injected with thermal oil inside. There’re mainly two kinds of lights work as the infrared ray light, one is quartz tube, another is gold tube. Quartz tube offers short wave, which heat the surface of synthetic leather, while, gold tube offers long wave, it can heat the inside of synthetic leather. After pre-heating, the product pass through embossing roller. Normally, we use rubber roller, steel roller and nickel roller as embossing roller, which is filled with freezing water or hot oil. However, the vacuum embossing machine use ceramic roller as the embossing roller. The ceramic roller is hollow and vacuum, which is connected to the vacuum pump. When the synthetic leather pass through the roller, the roller will suck the leather surface by vacuum pump. 

After embossing, the product will pass through cooling roller, usually consist of three rollers. Then, winding the products.
