Black foam core board is commonly used to produce architectural models, prototype small objects, and produce patterns for casting. Scenery for scale model displays and amas and games such as Warhammer, Warhammer 40,000, Lord of the Rings Strategy Battle Game and Void, is often produced by hobbyists from foamcore.
