Your Mug Press is ready to be used immediately and comes supplied with a 13amp plug and lead (the same type that connects printers, monitors and computer power). We recommend that whenever you switch on your Mug Press that you have a mug within the press for safety (safety mug). The Mug Press is designed to heat up rapidly and you should achieve your operating temperature within 30-40 seconds. We recommend a temperature setting of 180 degrees Celsius. Whilst the maximum temperature can be set as high as 399 degrees Celsius it is strongly recommended that this is not used as it can cause damage to the heat blanket.
The Mug Press is designed to take all standard dye sublimation mugs and has a fully adjustable clamp. Simply twist the end of the ball and this will enable a tighter fit around the mug once the clamp has been set into position.
Once the Mug Press has reached the operating temperature with the safety mug in location you are ready to place the dye sublimation image onto the mug. Carefully place this on the mug, fix with heat tape and place the mug into the Mug Press.
The control unit is shown below. The temperature should be set to 180 degrees Celsius and when the unit is switched on the green light will illuminate to show that the Mug Press is heating and the digital display will show the temperature reached. When the temperature reaches the required setting the unit will light the red light to show that the temperature has been reached. You will see the red and green lights alternate as the unit regulates the heat setting around the preset temperature.
The timer can be set to the required length of time (we recommend 180 seconds) and when the mug is inserted into the Mug Press and clamped into position the green switch is pressed to activate the digital timer. When the digital timer reaches the preset time you will hear an audible music indicating that the required time as elapsed. Once the music is heard, remove the mug from the Mug Press take off the paper from the mug and place the mug immediately in cold water. Your image has been transferred.
If your image appears light after following the above instructions you should either increase the heat setting or increase the length of time you heat the mug. Likewise if the image appears very dark either lower the heat settings or reduce the length of time. Different dye sublimation inks may require different time and heat settings.
