A plastic device containing a reactive strip encased within a plastic mold and a removable protective cap. Midstreams are widely available commercially, most usually in the form of fertility tests. The sample collection and application is performed in one step by inserting a test device into the urine stream for 10 seconds. The reaction approximately takes 5 minutes with visual appearance of control and test lines (usually one line for negative, and both lines for positive results). The results can be obtained in qualitative or semi-quantitative formats, depending on individual test or technique.
